- Corgis nip at the heels of cattle, sheep, etc and bark when they herd. The instinct can be strong even though the majority of our dogs have not been trained to herd. They may nip at the heels of humans, and when excited may even jump up and nip. What Corgi owners see as normal behavior for the breed, others may construe as biting.
- Originated in Wales
- Generally recognized as two distinct breeds: the Cardigan and the Pembroke.
- Pembrokes are at risk for hip dysplasia, Von Willebrand's disease and eye disorders.
- Cardigans are said to originate from the Teckel family of dogs, which also produced Dachshunds.
- Highly intelligent, obedient, protective and devoted dog.
- Cardigans are less sociable and more territorial than Pembroke's, as they tend to have a higher dominancy level.

- Breed originated in Germany to hunt badgers.
- Dachshund means "badger dog" in German.
- Dachshunds usually have the most trouble with their spinal column because of the length of the spinal column and the shortness of the rib cage.
- The long haired dachshund is thought to be the smooth haired dachshund crossed with breeds like spaniels or German Stoberhund.
- Long-haired dachshunds have a calmer, intelligent character inherited from the spaniel.
- As well as spinal problems, the dachshund can develop heart disease, urinary tract problems, and diabetes.
- Like many small hunting dogs, they will challenge a larger dog.
